My name is Michaela. I’m 21 and have a son who will be 2 in August. I am a full-time student working towards my BA degree.
What’s your favourite thing about being a mom?
Waking up to hugs and kisses in the morning and always having someone excited to see me when I get home.
What is one misconception people have about young moms?
That all young moms leave their parents to raise their children while they go out and party and don’t take responsibility.
Tell us how society could support young parents better?
Ensuring young parents are aware of support systems provided by the community (if any).
What is your dream for your child/ children?
For my son to be successful and create his own path and follow the dreams and goals he has made for himself.

I want you to know that just because you had a child at a young age doesn’t mean you can’t accomplish your goals. It just means it takes a little longer and will be a lot harder. Being a parent isn’t easy but every step is worth it.
