Lerato Makhavhu

My name is Lerato Makhavhu, and I currently serve as a training specialist. I’m passionate about empowering individuals through education and development, and I bring that same commitment into my role as a mother, advocate and changemaker. As a mother, I’m deeply involved in creating nurturing, emotionally safe environments for my children and others around me. I believe motherhood is a powerful platform for leadership, healing and transformation both in the home and in society. One of my proudest achievements is founding The Cracks Foundation, an initiative dedicated to supporting mothers who suffer in silence due to domestic violence. Through strategic partnerships with corporates, we aim to help organisations put meaningful plans in place to identify, support and empower these women giving them the tools and resources to begin their journey toward healing and independence.

Being a Mamandla Fellow is a deeply meaningful experience. It represents a space where motherhood is honoured as leadership, and where our voices and stories are not only heard but amplified. It is a platform that allows me to connect with other powerful women, share my journey, and continue advocating for those who need support the most. For me, it’s about standing in solidarity, growing together, and driving change from the heart of motherhood.

The Mamandla Fellowship represents a space where motherhood is honoured as leadership, and where our voices and stories are not only heard but amplified.
