Meet the Team

Julie Mentor

Julie Mentor is the leader of Embrace, the Movement for Mothers. Julie is a maternal rights activist, community-builder, and storyteller. She spends a dedicated portion of her time of her time working with civil society organisations and local government, assisting them to sensitize their work to the complex needs of mothers living in diverse socio-economic communities.

Rumbi Goredema-Görgens

Rumbi Goredema-Görgens is the operations manager for Embrace. She is a lifelong feminist activist with a wealth of experience in community development work, project management, and volunteer activity facilitation and coordination. She also has an extensive background in writing for various audiences. Rumbi is the proud and exhausted mother of Samuel and Miriro.

Nonkululeko Mbuli

Nonkululeko Mbuli is the advocacy and communications strategist at Embrace. She began her career in community media and has extensive experience in the development sector, including work in adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights and research. Nonkululeko is an Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity in South Africa and an alumna of the Jamlab Accelerator, an entrepreneurship development programme by the Wits Centre for Journalism for journalists and media innovators in Africa.

Cat Swartbooi

Cat Swartbooi, Embrace’s digital strategist, is a multimedia practitioner and journalist. Her primary area of interest is creating online content for social change.

Mphakiseng Molefe-Daniels

Mphakiseng Molefe-Daniels, Embrace’s network mobiliser, is a dedicated advocate for community development, driven by a profound passion for creating positive change and fostering inclusive, thriving communities. In her spare time, she enjoys gym (specifically aerobics), hiking, and watching soccer.
