Lerato Solomon is a development practitioner, humanitarian, speaker and founder of Mental Matters. She is dedicated to advancing mental wellness in underserved communities and humanising mental health.
Her journey into this work began as a teenager, navigating mental illness challenges while finding her own voice. This lived experience inspired her to create spaces for young women and mothers to normalise mental health and build resilience.
With experience in social impact, Lerato has bridged the gap between policy and grassroots voices, ensuring that mental health is recognised as central to social change. Her impact has earned recognition, including Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans, 30 Young Mandelas in Mental Health, TransUnion Rising Star – Entrepreneur and 40 Under 40 Africans in Community Development.
To her, becoming a Mamandla Fellow is both an honour and a responsibility to champion humanity, kindness and wellness, and to help reimagine an Africa where mothers thrive.
