Lutfiyah Suliman

I’m a new-ish and first-time mum.

I’ve worked most recently as a researcher on issues relating to economic justice and climate policy and before that in transport and energy policy and implementation, environmental education and science communication.

I’ve experienced and learned a lot in the last few years of mothering that prompted my interest in care, social reproduction and matrescence. I began reaching out to those in my immediate community to engage in discussion around mental health stigma, birth and postpartum challenges and equity in the postpartum household, and advocated for development and implementation of care policies in the workplace.

I have also begun sharing some of my thoughts and reflections on the journey through care, matrescence, mental health, well- being and grief in a newsletter format. I am hopeful that this fellowship will be an opportunity for me to both contribute to and learn from a more well- informed and material advocacy on these issues.
