A Love Note from Ayanda Borotho
Ma…the first word we utter in recognition of our Source in heaven and earth.
The best way to celebrate Mother’s Day? By celebrating YOU. Yes, really. Sometimes the most meaningful celebration is one that honours yourself and the profound impact you have on those around you. Ma…the first word we utter in recognition of our Source in heaven and earth. This might be a really tough time, but mothers are tougher! Perfecting this thing called motherhood looks different for everyone. Some days it’s planned lessons and home cooked meals and other days it’s 2min noodles, screen time and hiding in the bathroom to have a snack. However our babies are born, I believe that it is one of the holiest things that we can experience as women. We can bring life in and move between worlds! We see you Mama. Enkosi kakhulu. Don’t be so hard on yourself, these are extraordinary times that will take some time adjusting to. I wish you a motherhood journey of love, laughter, beauty, courage, hope and deep gratitude for the lessons and rewards that come from it one way or another. Themba uthando onalo lwabantwana bakho. I want to remind you that you are doing an exceptional job during this time. As long as your kids are happy and you are happy. You are your best asset and the best of you is what your kids need. There’s no role more essential, especially in the times that we are living in, than motherhood. What your child wants most of all is not the most popular toy, the most expensive sneakers or the latest model phone. The gift they really want most of all is YOU – your time, your focus, your touch, your love. Jou woorde gaan le diep in my, onthou sonder jou sou ek nie hier wees nie. Some days we try hard, and some days we try less, and that’s okay! Amidst the chaos, guilt & constant juggling, you show up and do your best. ‘Doing your best’ will look different every day. On Monday, ‘my best’ was cereal for supper. Some days my ‘best’ is skipping lessons and letting YouTube babysit while I finish my work. You are enough. To your child, no wealth or privilege is more precious, than having your parent on your team, cheering you on. Even and especially when no one else is.
