Nomfundo is the dynamo behind the KwaZulu-Natal based Women of Worth Society (WoW). WoW brings together black women in Pietermaritzburg through “dialogues, informal gatherings, conversations (girl-talks), social media campaigns, research, events” designed to “achieve the total emancipation of women from the bondage’s of emotional, psychological and social oppression, and also increase women’s participation in building a non-sexist and egalitarian society”. Nomfundo’s passion for women’s equal participation extends to parenthood, where women often bear most of the burden. Nomfundo sees her time as a Mamandla Fellowship as an opportunity to acquire skills and networks to develop an approach to getting fathers involved and sharing the load with mothers.
