Palesa Mphambani

“Passionate about all things motherhood.”

These words not only embody the creed by which Palesa is motivated but are also the clarion call that drives her to action. As a wife, mother of two children and a daughter to a midwife, Palesa believes in the sanctity of the bond between mama & child. For this reason, Palesa who is currently an entrepreneur, founded Sondela Baby, a business which emphasizes baby-wearing as a means of strengthening maternal bonding between mama and baby.

Based in Johannesburg, where she was born and raised, Palesa holds a law degree from Wits University and a certificate in public relations from the University of Cape Town.

Her background incubated a personal philosophy of social justice which led her to seek communion in the fellowship of like-minded people that is Mamandla. Within the broad range of issues affecting motherhood and mothers’ rights, she has a particular interest in breastfeeding, the laws regulating maternity leave and early childhood development.
