Smangele Mathebula

Smangele, together with her twin sister, Dudu, are BoMme, “a movement that celebrates a beautiful motherhood. “We aim to create a mother-to-mother support network that imparts practical and spiritual solutions, information with regards to mothering and empowering the mom”. BoMme is committed to finding creative and sustainable solutions to some of the barriers that poverty presents to mothers. They write, “Through our care lab, we aim to empower mothers across generations to be able to care for themselves as well as their young. We have noticed that the journey to beautiful motherhood is hampered when socio economic needs are limited and frustrated. We aim to explore sustainable solutions that can elevate the mom as a caregiver first directing the care to herself and then extending this to her child/children”. Smangele is also passionate about reading and equitable access to books, especially books by African authors, for all children.
